Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before using HireMeMaybe ("the Service", "the Platform", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
HireMeMaybe is a job-search assistance tool that aggregates job listings from third-party sources, uses artificial intelligence ("AI") to extract information from your CV, score job listings against your profile, draft cover letters and email replies, and — where you enable it — automatically searches for and saves job listings and prepares application materials on your behalf. The Service does not itself submit job applications to employers or third-party job boards on your behalf; any actual application, upload of your CV to a third party, or submission of any kind remains a manual action taken by you.
2. Eligibility and Account Approval
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. Access to certain features (including job search, automation, and email account connection) requires your account to be reviewed and approved by an administrator. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to approve, reject, suspend, or terminate any account, and to set or change usage limits on any account, at any time and without prior notice, including but not limited to limits on the number of searches, CV scans, cover letter drafts, or other actions performable per day or per month.
3. AI-Generated Content — No Guarantee of Accuracy
The Service uses AI (including third-party large language models) to extract data from your CV, calculate "match scores" between you and job listings, draft cover letters, classify and draft replies to emails, and generate other content. AI-generated content and scoring may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or unsuitable for your circumstances. A high match score is not a guarantee of suitability, eligibility, or likelihood of being hired, and a low match score does not mean a role is unsuitable for you. You must independently review, verify, and edit any AI-generated content (including CV data, scores, cover letters, and email drafts) before relying on it or sending it to any third party. We make no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI-generated output.
4. No Guarantee of Employment Outcomes — Use At Your Own Risk
The Service does not guarantee that you will find, be shortlisted for, interviewed for, or offered any job. All information provided by the Service, including job recommendations, match scores, and drafted content, is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute career, legal, financial, or professional advice of any kind. You use the Service, and act on any information or content it provides, entirely at your own risk. We are not responsible for any decision you make, or action you take or fail to take, based on the Service.
5. Third-Party Job Listings
Job listings displayed by the Service are sourced from third-party providers (including but not limited to job search aggregation APIs) and original third-party job boards and employer websites. We do not create, verify, control, or endorse this content, and we are not responsible for its accuracy, completeness, legality, or availability. Listings may be outdated, expired, duplicated, or in rare cases fraudulent. You are responsible for independently verifying the legitimacy of any job listing and employer before providing personal information, your CV, or any payment, and before attending any interview. We recommend exercising the same caution you would with any online job listing, including being alert to common recruitment scam indicators (e.g. requests for money, requests for banking details early in a process, or offers made without an interview).
6. Automation Features
Where you enable automation features (including scheduled job searches, automatic saving of matching jobs, automatic preparation of application materials, automatic drafting or sending of email replies, and WhatsApp or email notifications), you acknowledge that these actions will occur without further manual review by you at the time they occur, subject to any settings and thresholds you configure. You are responsible for reviewing automation settings, outputs, and any emails sent on your behalf (where automatic sending is enabled) and for disabling any feature you do not wish to use.
7. Your Account and Connected Services
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and any third-party credentials (such as email app passwords) you provide to the Service, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and promptly update it if it changes. Where you connect a Gmail account, you do so using a Google-generated App Password, and you remain responsible for that account and for revoking access via your Google Account settings at any time.
8. Data Protection and Privacy
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). We collect and process information you provide (including your name, contact details, CV content, employment history, and skills), information from connected email accounts you authorise us to monitor, and usage data. This information is used to provide and improve the Service, including matching you to jobs, drafting content on your behalf, and sending you notifications. Email and application passwords are stored encrypted. We do not sell your personal information. Your CV, profile, and email content may be processed by third-party service providers engaged to power parts of the Service (see Section 9). You have the right, subject to POPIA, to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information held by us, by contacting us using the details in Section 15.
9. Third-Party Service Providers
The Service relies on third-party providers to function, including (without limitation) a job-listing data provider, an AI/language-model provider, our database/hosting provider, and — where you enable messaging notifications — a messaging provider (for email and/or WhatsApp notifications). Your use of the Service means relevant data (such as search queries, CV content, or job descriptions) may be transmitted to and processed by these providers under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party providers.
10. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, software, and underlying technology, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the content you submit (such as your CV and profile information), and grant us a licence to process it solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of income, profit, opportunity (including missed job opportunities), or data, arising from or related to your use of the Service, whether based in contract, delict (tort), or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, where and to the extent it applies.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
13. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, including where we believe your account has been used to abuse, overuse, or attempt to circumvent usage limits or approval controls. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time by contacting us.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Where changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users.
15. Governing Law and Contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including (where applicable) the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts. For questions about these Terms or to exercise any data protection right, contact: [operator name and contact email to be added].
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
